The Proper Villains at world cup!

Oct-24-2008

We’ve finally made it. After a couple of fun days down here in Florida, we have finally made it to the Disney Wide Worldof Sports complex. We finally get to experience first hand the crown jewel of the paintball world.

After getting our IDs and registering the team fir play tomorrow we did some walking around and saw why Cup was the largest trade show of the year. There were vendors as far as the eye could see. All the notable big time players were there as usual.

Planet Eclipse was there displaying their new Ego9 and Geo (The Geo is a spool valve gun, can you believe it?)

Mac Dev apparently is releasing a new gun called the Cyclone. Pretty nice gun, it feels a lot like an Ego. Super small, super light are he keys to the kingdom here.

Take a look at DLX and their pimp palace. I guess they are really pushing the whole Luxury card.

Finally something I’ve been looking forward to seeing. The new Rotor from Dye. Looks like they put quite a bit of work behind the design if  this loader. There are zero tools needed to dismantle, clean, and repair  the loader. The dual counter rotating paddles are pretty interesting  also. I really can’t wait to see how people use and abuse this to test it’s  worth.

Home Coming

Oct-11-2008

Back to the Mecca of tournament paintball of the south east, PaintBall Central, Rock Hill SC. We were all to familiar with the scenery, and the weather was somewhat questionable in the morning but nothing too bad. This will be the last tourny that we will be playing in this tournament year, and we were all prepared to do what we had to in order to cement our top 10 finish. A top 10 finish in the worlds largest 5 man speed ball competition.

Luckily for everyone, the weather cleared up beautifully. Slight overcast skies, a fair breeze, and decently cool temperature. After receiving the schedule for the day we were happy to see that we got to play our friends at Damage Inc. that won the previous tourny. They are also one of the teams involved with the 3 way tie for the last semi-final place who eventually went on to win the tourny. After getting the blood pumped up we went out on the field, and in a whirlwind paint it was over. We managed to max an excellent team. We knew we had it in us and it showed there. Next up The Gremlins, another stout team ready to win. Unfortunately they again felt the sting when we defeated them, as we only dropped one body against them. 2-0… I can dig it. In our next game, we were pitted against arguable the most dominant team in division 5 CFOA…. Team Majestic. These guys are awesome, always smiling and willing to joke around with you. I guess it’s easy to be so light hearted when you are poised so high on the food chain. Well we all went on the field and prepared ourselves to lock horns. After the 10 second silent count, it was almost over quicker than it started. Proper Villains go on with yet another win. It was the same story for the rest of the preliminary games. We went on to amass an impressive 580 points, only dropping 4 bodies so far in the day. Proper Villains go 6-0 heading to the semi-finals.

Unfortunately our Steam roll through the competition ends there. The next two games did not go as planned. We lost those, and there was a surreal feeling of…. "what just happened?" Maybe we were too relaxed. The fact that we just went 6-0 and the fact that any time we make it this far, we normally win sits heavily on us. Well, with those two loses we remove ourselves from the chance to take home a gold one last time. Our last game we decided to have some fun and play our hearts out one last time. It went very well thankfully as we yet again showed everyone how we really play.

That brings us to a close of this season playing as a division 5 team. We had our rocky start, and quick learning curve. We had our highs and low. At the end of the season, we finished with a respectable 12th place finish. Not bad for a team that hasn’t even played a year together. Fair considering this was the first year of tournaments for most of our players. Up next on our plate will be the PSP World Cup down in Orlando Florida. That will prove to be an exciting time as we get to spend a week in Fla. Keep an eye on the site  for all the happenings.

Thank you to all of our sponsors for helping us through this tournament year. You have made the burden of shooting people so much easier. We would also like to thank the CFOA for giving us the opprotunity to showcase out talent, but most of all… all the people within the series for making it all happen. We hope to see you guys next year.
